Utility and Information Technology Industry Strategic Engagement
My consulting practice promotes successful engagements between the information technology and utility industries, focusing on energy efficiency and demand-side management opportunities.
I am leveraging my expertise and knowledge gained at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, where I was responsible for designing and delivering programs and services to help PG&E’s customers manage their energy use in the high tech, biotech and healthcare industry segments. I was also charged with strategic engagement with the high tech industry with regard to technology evaluation, and new opportunities related to “smart grid” deployment.
Under my leadership, PG&E developed a utility industry-leading program portfolio for data centers and information technology infrastructure, including training and education, technical support, and financial incentives and rebates. In 2009, energy efficiency projects at data centers supported by PG&E resulted in over seven megawatts of load reduction, 80 gigawatt-hours of energy savings, and over $7 million in incentive payments to customers.
I also led the formation of the Utility IT Energy Efficiency Coalition, promoting the adoption of PG&E’s program and service models by over forty-five utilities throughout North America.
My current client list includes utilities and information technology companies, and services include delivery of education and training, program design and management, development of white papers and briefing materials, and general consultations.
I'm politically active in the Sonoma Valley, serving as an elected Director of the Valley of the Moon Water District, the chair of the Sonoma Valley Groundwater Basin Advisory Panel, and on several other community boards.
