Just a reminder that the second stakeholder meeting for the project to develop energy efficiency standards for new data centers in California is being held next week in San Francisco.
We'll be reviewing the technical work that Taylor Engineering has performed to evaluate minimum efficiency standards for air conditioning systems, as well as work on standards for power conditioning equipment. (I think the biggest result is that air-side, water-side, or equivalent free-cooling strategies must be incorporated in any new data center after 2012.)
If you design, build, or operate data centers in California, and want to be part of the stakeholder team, drop me a line. For those who can't attend the meeting on Thursday the 16th in person (at the PG&E Pacific Energy Center in San Francisco), we have established a webinar, so you can participate from a remote location.
