Verdiem has been one of the most active vendors of PC network power management software solutions, and also an active and thoughtful advocate of utility programs that provide rebates for installation of this kind of software. (By a recent count, over twenty utilities offer a rebate for PC power management software, by far the most widely-adopted IT energy efficiency measure in the country.)
I did not know that Verdiem was in something of a start-up mode, but when you look at their competitors, it makes some sense. Most PC power management packages are add-ons or features of PC fleet management programs (like Symantec or BigFix).
In any event, nice to see that Verdiem has secured additional funding. I'd like to see an innovative utility figure out how to work with a player like Verdiem to offer a subscription PC power management service directly to individual consumers. Happy to share thoughts on this with a vendor or open-minded utility.
