For the utility and IT industries, Andrew's good fortune is our short term loss, as his efforts to develop and update EnergyStar standards for personal computers, servers, and data storage equipment have been vital components of our collective drive towards more energy efficient computing.
I talked with Andrew at OSIsoft's conference this week in San Francisco, and he is clearly excited by his new challenges there. He tells me that he will certainly be working on OSIsoft's continued entry into data center metering and monitoring, but will also be working on their overall strategy to marry the ethos of sustainability into their product and service offerings.
Andrew also indicated that the EPA is well aware that the Tier 2 standard for servers and a new standard for data storage equipment remain imperatives for the agency.
All due respect to Andrew for outstanding industry support in the past years, and best wishes on his new endeavors.
