I had heard from utility contacts in Mass. that they were facing aggressive new energy efficiency program goals from their regulators, and that funding was going to essentially quadruple in 2010 compared to last year.
Well, here's the popular press report from the New York Times outlining the situation, noting that at least on a per capita basis, Massachusetts will surpass California in utility program funding.
This is great news of course, though my California pride points out that we've been at the game a little longer... Seriously, I'm very happy for the state, and applaud the regulators and utilities for this ambitious effort.
